Ray Underhill Passes

ollieraylayback airone footerI am so sad to report that our friend, Ray Underhill passed away on August 1st. Ray finally lost his battle with cancer that he bravely fought the last couple of years. Ray touched many lives over his lifetime, from the skater kid he had just met at a demo to his friends he skated and worked with everyday. Ray will not only be remembered for his stylish skating on vert, but also for his great sense of humor, he always had us laughing, frequently to tears. Ray's upbeat personality always rubbed off on you when he was around. Ray's passing is not just a passing of a friend, but is like losing a brother, we will miss you terribly Ray. Thank you for sharing your short life with us.
Ray is survived by his wonderful family, his wife, Kerry and his son, Keaton and his daughter, Olivia. If you would like to leave a message of support for them, visit Ray's website.

I was lucky enough to own a skateshop in the 90's, and had Ray and the Bones gang over to my house for a cookout. Definetly a class act Ray was. Very cordial, nice, and funny. He will truly be missed by all that knew him, as a father and inspiration to many skaters from that era.

    Wow, I remember him.

I remember really digging on his board on H-Street.

nevermind, I thought he was on H-street.

He rode for Powell but damn, I still remember seeing his name around.

Regardless of the company still a sad loss.

Any skater is a huge loss! Ray was a big influence to me as a young skater growing up in the 80's. Thanks for the great years of style and new tricks! RIP Ray Underhill.

I am sure Ray will be still ripping it up above and still smiling big and bright as he moves on to the next session of his life. He was a good man from his personal, professional and private life. We need more people to follow his path.
    Keep Fueling the fire!

You recognized the breadth of American skateboarding as being more than a West Coast thing. Thanks Ray. Godspeed!

Ray is the best. I had the good fortune of actually meeting him in his home turf of Tennessee and skated with him and his bros for a week or so... Lyle Donahue, Britt Parrot, Jay Cabler, etc. Then there was Ray, the obvious standout.
    My condolences to the family.

    God Speed Ray

When I was a kid I had the second picture on this page cut out from the TWS magazine and glued to a drawer cabinet in my room. Even though I must have watched it every day in ten years or so, I never got tired of it. That's good style. R.I.P.

The first time I met Ray was at Gullwing Trucks. I came into meet the people that worked there and pick up some trucks. Ray was super nice and made me feel right at home. This might seem small but I'll never forget his kindness. To a wide eye'd kid from the midwest meeting someone like Ray Underhill was really cool.
