Backlog of Blogs Contest
I went back and looked at all the blogs I have done over the past year or whatever, less than a year, 11 months, I don't know, who's counting, I'm not. Here's a way you can obtain a Classic photo that I have taken over the years. Just go through my older Blogs and then comment on this Blog entry on how awesome you think I am. Make it creative and flattering. I will pick the shot to give to the winner, so please, No Requests.

Apparently I can't read very well Grant, my post on how awesome you are is on the blog entry about Jake Brown slamming. It reads a little sarcastic, but It came from my heart and I mean it all. I'd be stoked if you'd grace my website when you got a few too. The link is in my post. But you knew that.

you're so awesome I'll give you all the set waves you want at suckout... then i'll buy you whatever VG's donut you want after your super session of the best set waves of the day. I will even boycott eating at Rico's. Then I will start a petition to replace the "magic carpet ride" statue at the bottom of Chesterfield with one of you holding a camera and fisheye with a plaque reading... "the Godfather of all that is great" You're that awesome.
oh, and one more thing, I just changed my dogs name from "fido" to "JGB".

When you're tired of the current commercialized, 1-upping skate scene in Southern California, it's nice to know you can retreat to the shade, beer in hand, and tune in to Grant's blog and relive skate history through epic photos from a past long gone. Who else has that?
Grant, you're a hero. You don't have to consider me an entry for your contest, but the first time I stepped into your lab at TSM I got goosebumps. It's crazy!
Keep blogging, man, that's all I ask.

Your photo of Christian Hosoi powersliding has always been my favorite skate photo.
I don't know what else to really say.

Everytime i look at one of your photos (especially those from the past), they remind me of how special skateboarding is in this world. It´s not easy to fit in words what meaning they have for all of us out there, i guess. For example, my favourite shot of all time is the legandary chris miller upland indy, that reminds me of the few times i saw him live skating. I still see him ripping in hyper-speed over the ramp in a his own untouchable style doing bs lipslides, lofty ollies, tailsildes, bluntsldes and almost tabletop lien airs. For me personally his riding is the true definition of style in skateboarding. (For others, it might be some other pro, or a no-name skater in his neighbourhood.) All this comes alife when i see the picture. And it makes me get out and drop in at our own ramp. That´s the beautiy and the power of such photos - they come alife and have an impact. Keep on going - your shots will nevre be forgotten!

Just a comment on S3B's post where he/she says: "Everytime i look at one of your photos (especially those from the past) they remind me of how special skateboarding is in this world." GRANT BRITTAIN could say something like this and it would make sense. All photos are from the past, but I bet it won't be long before BRITTAIN pushes the evolution of photography to images from the future - he's that kind of awesome.

In this time, there existed one man, who was more man than most. He had a voice that could make Rodent purr, and suits so fine, they made Muska look like a hobo.

I read lots of TWS in the 80's I learned English on skate magazines and I was inspired, I was stoked. I could only see the bones brigade once, in 1986 in Rome (Code Name Viper was the article), Italy is so far away from the US, from then only magazines and local heroes.
So I think of how many of your pictures I've seen in those magazines, each one of them made one step away from monotony and one step closer to the land of my dreams where skateboard is adored more than cars or soccer.
Visionary sights, taken not to document the fact but to idealize it, to show the art hidden in a plank with wheels. Not the power of the jump but the craft of flying. This is what we seek in skateboard and this you provide for us.
Our monthly fix of colour and shadows will make us skate just until the next one, make them come!!!

grant brittain... what can i say? when you grasp your camera with those rugged manly hands and raise it to your exquisite and perfectly formed eye..... the magic happens! its like the 4th of july, christmas, arbor day, presidents day, groundhog day, and halloween all rolled into one. you are so good that you cant be real. you are like an idea. an apparition. a wise and knowing character on a sitcom that gets all the chicks, even if you do shoot with canon.

Have you ever seen GRANT's pinhole skate photos? I have. God gave him the ability to shoot lighting out of his finger tips so bright, that GRANT is able to freeze skaters even at f/128. Ask him about it sometime, he'll gladly show you.

Grant ole chap....
Just saw your contest and wanted to comment on your blogs of the past year....For one, you actually posted more content than the others of the staff of the skatemag and for that I thank you. Another thing that makes your blogs the best are the occasional sprinkling of classic shots of blender, miller, hosoi, hawk, be it at a park or a parking lot. Let's not forget the humor of your text with the blogs when you post content, that makes it a nice added touch. Being humble, or humbleness comes across in your words as well. Add all of it up and it's stupendous, insightful, delightful and fun bro, so Keep it up Grant! Peace...

Hi Grant-
Thank you so much for my new camera. I love it. It's the best. I run around the house taking pictures of my mom and my dad and my toys. I learned how to say "camera" and I say it over and over so everyone knows when I'm coming to take their picture.
I figured out that it bounces, so now I throw it across the floor and up into the kitchen sink. I think it's hilarious. My mom is bummed that I say, "Camera camera, bounce bounce bounce," and she's hoping I learn to differentiate soon.
Thanks again.
By the way, you're the best. Do I win the photo?
Love, Haden

How weird it is that the exact time I surf the internet checking your amazing pics of skating and your blog world I look up and on some random channel is a Discovery home remake show and Ken Park and family is on there. I had the volume down and I looked over and saw someone skating in the street and I thought whoa this guy can actually skate OK, wait is that Ken Park? Can't be hahaha. Anyway hope all is well mag looks great as usual. Hope you all survived the fires OK. Crazy. Speaking of fire that shot of Lance Mountain at Mile High brings back some memories. Seeing all the best skaters roll into Tahoe at the time in the 80's was so cool being your photos were the only real link to the skate world back then. First day I really picked up a camera to shoot skating not knowing what the hell I was doing with a Pentax spotmatic. Anyway an epic pic for sure. I'll have to get one of your TSM hats soon. Just wanted to say hi. peace. -cc
