I shot this photo of Jeff Grosso at the Joe Lopes (RIP) Ramp Jam (in 1984?) in San Leandro, California.
Channel Plants have always been my favorite thing to shoot and I love this photo.
I slept on the floor of an RV rented by Larry Balma with Garry Skate Davis and Brian Ridgeway.
People were stepping on us all night to get to the bathroom. That's what it was like back in the day when you were starting a brand new magazine. History!

I believe this shot was the day(s) before the first SF Streetstyle contest, as I remember sessioning with a bunch of dudes at Joe's; Grossman, Lucero, Neil, Billy Ruff, etc.. I remember a young skinny Grosso ripping it up.

Really? I didn't go to the first SF Street Style Contest, they wouldn't let me go, it was too expensive to send me all the way from SD. If you are correct, this might not be my photo, now I am paranoid! I hope I didn't use someone else's photo, oh shit!
