Super Park
Back in issue #55 of The Mag I wrote negative comments about ESPN people replacing vert skating with something called "Super Park." My negative commentary was not as personal as some may have thought. My real goal was to let the skaters in the X Games know we had their back and that the corporate types shouldn't be making decisions such as that without consulting the group as a whole. Blah, blah, blah.
Well, as it turns out, vert was put back in and Super Park is debuting next week at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles. So I get called by a friend at Vans about going to the Super Park practice to shoot Omar Hassan and he'd go ahead and get me a media pass for the day. I told him good luck with that, and when he called back he confirmed my suspicions — I am not a fave of the people over at the Entertainment and Sports Entertainment Network, but somehow he still managed to get me a pass. I was just glad that someone over there cared enough to read my comments written in the mag. Anyway, here are some pics of Rune, Andy Mac, and Omar practicing for next week's Super Park.

ESPN should be thinking along this line. Bored of the X Games in Los Angeles bring it to cities that need parks and hook some brothers up and that would seriously outdo what the Maloof brothers did. Also if it is superpark, why don't they integrate pyramids, launchs and rails with big enough landings that you can keep your speed and hit a vert wall and bust out a 10 foot backside ollie.
That would be the future. treflip noseslide over a rainbow rail, land into a steep slope pump then pop out a 10 foot tail grab fakie then come back and do a switch heel over the pyramid where the rainbow rail. is how sick would that be?

The whole idea behind super park was to emulate bowl skating, not bmx. If it were a bmx course it would have been bigger and more spread out so guys can pedal and do big shit. that wa so unimpressive of a bmx contest. dew tour stuff is far better for bmx comps. what is really sad is that most skateparks are cryinh the blues but simply letting bikes in can generate money to stay open, built new stuff for us to skate. he even the skatepark of Tampa is bike friendly, very bike friendly.
