For those who have not already heard the news, we are deeply saddened to report the recent loss of our friend and fellow skateboarder for life – Jaya Bonderov. Last week Jaya was killed in a tragic car accident on Kauai. In the wake of Jaya’s death, his family is not only suffering emotionally, but has fallen into a financial crisis, as he was a contributing member of the family.
On behalf of Jaya and his family we are asking for you to please kindly give from your hearts to help them.
My name is Beatrice Lemos; I am a close friend to Jaya, his sister Sophie, and all of his immediate family here on Kauai. I have been asked to be in charge of the Jaya Bonderov Fund, several benefit events in progress along with a majority of the family affairs at this time. An account has been set up for all donations made to be legally tax-deductable. Jaya’s mother and sister are the sole beneficiaries on the account. The details are listed below near the bottom of this letter. Words cannot express how appreciated any and all of your help will be to the Bonderov family.
In addition to the immediate direct-donation fundraising efforts, I am organizing the first of several memorial events. Information for the first event is as follows.
What: Jaya Bonderov Skate Jam and Silent Auction
When: August 5th, 2012
Where: Kilauea, Hi at the Kilauea Mini Golf and Skate Ramp
I request all brands and collectors who can donate to please send products for the event. Examples for this request include: autographed pro decks, limited edition items, vintage collectibles, signed posters, exclusive experiences i.e. “a week at Woodward”, etc.
All items will be used for silent auction and 100% of proceeds go to Jaya’s family. Banners and other signage sent with product donations will be placed at the venue and plenty of photos and video will be taken to capture the experience. Everyone is invited to attend.
