Stoner Park Plaza Pics

Our friend Noah sent us some words and some stills shot by Taylor Fitz-Gibbon of the amazing new Stoner Park Plaza that just opened in Santa Monica.

Ever since the world famous West LA courthouse got shut down in 2006, Alec Beck and his crew of local skateboarders have been working with the city to get a skate plaza built in their neighborhood. After attending multiple city council meetings the city and local residents were convinced that a skate plaza would be a positive investment. Many local skaters worked with CA skateparks to create a 20,000 square foot park that was paid for by Quimby funds.

At 11:00am, on Thursday, July 22nd Alec Beck took the honors of cutting the ceremonial ribbon and the “designated skate plaza” was officially opened to the public.

Huge help for the project came from Huck Gibson, Jay Handel, Len Nguyen, Bill Rosendahl, Eric Calhoun, Craig Raines, Mayor Villaraigosa, Colby Carter, Joe Ciaglia, Justin Cefai, Colin Cook, Joey Brezinski, Chris Roberts, Aaron Snyder, Michael Guffy, Noah Lewkow, Sean Mcnulty, Tyler Kindred, Stuart Kirst, Christina Wysling, Josh Campos, Rob Dyrdek, Zach Plehn, Andrew White, Allicen Maier, the City of Los Angeles, CA Skateparks crew and Stoner Park Recreation Center.

Big thanks to ZJ Boarding House, Zero, Fallen, Autobahn Wheels and Autobrauts, and Vitamin Water for sponsoring the event.
