It’s funny, I guess I’m just old. I have mentioned a couple of names to younger skaters(under 35) on occasion and they have given me that dog style head cocked to the side and I knew right away, they had no clue who I was talking about. One of the best skaters back in the 70s was a compact guy named Tom “Wally” Inouye(IPS- Inouye’s Pool Service). Wally rode for Sims and then Caster Skateboards and he had a super fluid and rubbery style. This is a photo of Wally I shot laying out a bert on the entrance to the keyhole at Del Mar Skate Ranch in 1981. Nobody rode that spot in the pool. Photo: Grant Brittain![]()
