Lets Go Make A Dolly: Part II

12.08.08 – The Skateboard Mag

Here are some test clips that I shot with the dolly I made this weekend. Take it easy!

It definitely needs some adjustments, but all in all, it worked pretty well. Especially since I was limited on tools and space.

sketching the dolly

After some preliminary sketches, I headed to home depot to figure it out.

I brought Melcher, my favorite cliptomaniac to see if he could cut donw on some costs.

Aluminum
The aluminum section seemed to be the most promising.
After some heavy brainstorming, we decided to go with an erectors set, type of build.

Good looks from Bones! Good looks from Bones! They were cool enough to sponsor our rig.

party the Dog
Melcher’s new puppy, Party, was there to supervise.

drilling
There was drilling galore!

washers
We had to really scrounge up a bunch of washers and spacers to get the wheels tightened up nicely.

We were sure to put lock washers on every bolt, to hold it together tightly.

It ended up turning out much better than he had imagined.

Finished product.
The platform ended up being pretty light. But the next step will be to get a lighter tripod.

Melch and dolly

Melch found these huge poles, which worked pretty good. but we’ll have to get some smaller and lighter ones that are much more portable.
